yes i did watch the movie i own it and all the other ff7 games the story line was ridiculously stupid like seriously a chimpanzee coulda came up with a better story and yes the translations were god awful all in all not a great movie

FF VIII = Square tried to push the PS1 too far and made fools out of themselves, in fact FF8 didn't sell that well, unlike FF7 that sold 10 million worldwide it was the begging of the end for Square, sadly .. since then, the series has been trying to please the old fans and the new fans (FF7 made RPGs popular here because it had good graphics, which tells a lot about the american audience lol), now the series seems to fail miserably at trying to please new fans and old fans at the same time...:(

if FF8 was the only FF game I had played, I do admit I might think it was the best game of all time :P let's pray that they one day make a serious remake of FF6... this time they won't have to remove 50% of the original Japanese script in order to fit a 2MB cartridge... that game was EPIC, there was nothing like it back then, it defined the genre... FF7's plot looked so much like it that it seriously turned me off at first... now i have great memories of them all anyway so its all good hehe :D

no- the end was FF9 (not such as good as 8 but still a nice one, nothing special), 10 was good as 8 but x-2 and 12 were horrible games, nothing from the real final fantasy charm and storytelling, crisis core is a good game, but the bonus a game gain with the name "Final Fantasy" is useless today i wont buy 13 im to disapionted of 12...

FFVIII and FFX are tied for my favorite. I don't quite understand why so many people disliked VIII. Frankly I didn't care much for IX and people seemed to love that one. I think XIII will be the last shot square has at regaining its base since X-2, XI, and XII sucked so badly. In all likelihood XIII will be the final game in the series.

Here's my review of the final fantasy series:
1-4: alright games, a little dated but improve as they go along
v-didn't play it
vi-amazing game, arguably the peak of the series
vii- also amazing in my opinion (my favorite along with vi)
viii- you either love it or hate it, i liked the story but the battle system killed it for me
ix - an attempt to bring final fantasy back to its roots, i really liked it but many others didn't, i feel it was the last really good final fantasy

x-perfect battle system but there was a clear degradation in the story from previous final fantasies
x-2 - haven't played it for obvious reasons, maybe someday
xi - too expensive for me
xii - haven't finished it yet, not too impressed so far, the characters aren't that great

i hate the junction system because it discourages the use of magic spells. :| but i like the music, esp. the balamb garden theme :D

Yeah, the junction system's a bitch. i did like most other aspects of the game though, including the music. I especially liked "find your way"

i loved the junctioning system because if you knew how to use it you could make your people unstopable without a rediculous amount of training. I love games where it takes more then just excess amounts of killing. That is what got me in ten. There was no difference between AP and EXP. Basically the more you killed the better your characters were. There wasn't some twist which most other game have.

I know what u mean with the plot and story theme. Its just rushed now to get games on shelf's as quick as possible.FF7,8 and 9 stuck a bit more to the original format. FFX onwards are more like star war's battle ships in space, gettin beamed to location's in a flash rather then traveling the good old fashioned way. Places like Terra would just look out of place in the modern FF's as the franchise is changing, nobuo Uematsu is missed for the score also.

but the junction system discourages the use of magic spells because it weakens the stats where it is junctioned. i hope they improve the junction system if ever they make a remake of FF8 in PS3. [i really hope XD]

This game cinimatically beat out all the other ff's evan to this day i think 13 will be the first to pass it evan 12 as hard as they tried fails(thats not to say 12 wasnt a good game because 12 was awsome)
