Nena is the best and trust me this song is even better in German! And now some history about this song: During the Cold War in the time of the Berlin Wall, a group of 99 people gathered to let 99 ballons go and float over the wall as a symbol of hope to the East Berliners. The Russians mistook the act as a bunch of cluster bombs and for a day everyone had their fingers on the nuclear button. This song is a result of the incident. Also, this song is NOT a literal translation of the original. ;)

The song takes place during the cold war between America and the Soviets. The singer and the listener by 99 balloons and release them into the air for fun. Due to a system glitch, the Americans interpret the balloons as an unidenttified aircraft in thier airspace, and immediately launch go on the offensive, with the Soviets responding likewise. In the end, both sides are decimated by theother, leaving the singer starting at a destroyed city as a balloon flies by. Really strong anti-war song.
