Very Nice ! I was thinking it had a different ending. A plot.
Like this was all a dream, the house the swiming pool everything. This guy sitting at his crampy basement apartment, making it all up in his head, just like their imaginary son, Mikey, and the imaginary wife and the imaginary house and the swiming pool. Just to be blissfully content.

Yeah I agree. Remember when he was like "Mikey was a band-aid over a cut that wouldn't heal"? I think that was what story was what was protecting him from killing himself. That's why he works at the suicide hotline.
