Podcasts are up tenfold in 2006 over 2005, according to a new research report from Forester Research's Brian Haven. The new report finds that 10 percent of individuals online in North American download a podcast at least once a month. That's up from 1 percent in 2005. Nearly half, 49 percent, of Gen X and Gen Y download podcasts at least once a week.
At first blush, this number seems high if you consider podcasts as audio files downloaded only to an iPod, but the definition in the survey is more broad, including downloadable audio and video files to computers and MP3 devices.
