To expound on halfblack72's comment, MF was arguably the greatest showman-trumpet player ever. To put it in a pro wrestling context: Hulk Hogan was not a technique wrestler, there were/are others better (Dean Malenko); MF was not a technique trumpeter, there were/are others better (any Marsalis); but here's what made Hogan and Ferguson the greatest IMHO. Allow me to spell it out... C-H-A-R-I-S-M-A. not to mention the ultimate entertainment mission statement: they could put butts in seats.

Miss Maynard sooooo much. Used to see him every year at Croce's here in San Diego. He damn near tore the house down - in a good way. An awesome showman and musician. RIP dear Maynard.

Man, oh man. I remember Maynard in the 70's when I was a kid. And I also remember Peter Eskine's yellow drumset. That concert was funky. I remember staying up all night one night to see the show when they showed repeats of the concert on PBS - channel 13 in NYC. Maynard is a great trumpeter and his band is just as good. It's sad to listen to the crap they call music today.

Dudes, I am so playing this song in my jazz band at school. We kick butt! although, where the guitar solo is in this song, there's a tenor sax solo (I play tenor) and yes, I am a girl! Girls can rock at tenor saxophone! =)

Damn...he died when I was in 8th grade. Obviously not that long ago. I was really looking forward to taking my dad (Who is a trumpet player) to go see Maynard. But sadly that day will never come. My dad already saw Maynard once a while back. Said it was increadible.
