i live in NYC and am planning on driving up to quebec city for a few days next month for the first time.
my question is, i don't really want to stay in Chateau Frontenac, i'd rather stay in a farely decent hotel/motel in an area where i can just go out the door and right into the old european style streets, somewhere quite and romantic.
any recommendations?

It depends on your price range. There are plenty of small and cozy bed and breakfasts inside the old city or on it's outskirts. At the other hand of the spectrum, there's the Auberge Saint-Antoine which is rated 25th on Travel + Leisure top 100 hotels in continental U.S. and Canada. Use Google maps to zoom in on the Ch
âteau Frontenac. Then search for "bed and breakfast", "auberge" or "hotel". Old Quebec is mainly east of the 175 in between Boulevard Champlain and Quai Saint-André.

When you are born somewhere, you take it for granted that you will always live there, instead destiny takes you even across the ocean, and that's when you regret not living each day as if it were your last. I have just returned from vacation in the northeast, and of course that I visited this beautiful city. It was great, the night we arrived it was snowing, so the day after the city looked awesome covered by a white blanket. My kids had a chance to play in the snow (I threw at them several snowballs). It's been one of our most memorable family vacations, thanks for posting this video, it brings great memories of our short but well spent visit to this jewel of America.
