I remember first putting this vinyl on the turntable in 1989. . . and during the first 3 seconds I thought, "Oh shit, Al Jourgensen has ruined them!" It turns out to be just mediocre I suppose. This LP in particular was weak relative to most other SP output.

This industrial metal classic is as much the songwriting property of Al Jourgensen's (Ministry, Pailhead, Lard, 1000 Homo DJs, Mentor to Reznor, Acid Horse, PTP, Lead into Gold, Pigface, Revolting Cocks) as it is Skinny Puppy's. Jourgensen co-wrote
produced Skinny Puppy's greatest album, "Rabies" (includes Tin Omen). SP has never done an album better than Rabies or as good. This fact compels me to believe that they still need some of Jourgensen's potent reinforcements. Snoogins...

Well, Jourgensen is cool and all. But Skinny Puppy flourished with Ogre, Cevin, D. Goettel, and Rave Ogilvie all the same. Shoot, I'd use Jourgensen too for guitar. But Puppy can make industrial tracks without Guitar. Too Dark Park kicked significant ass, as well did Mind:the perpetual intercourse.

SP was using this video as part of their projection on the big screen during their too dark park tour when it passed through my town! nice too see it again after some time in recluse.:) as for jorgenson,check out the pop music he did in the Earlie 80's,then complain about him (don't forget the dispute over tee shirt sales w/ Gibby Haynes)skinny puppy hold their own in my book,and still rocks despite the fire...thanks for the video, Pummel on!

I 100% agree with you on this (even though Skinny Puppy discredited Al Jourgensen's participation in bringing this album to fruition ... primarily due to Al introducing Nivek to heroin, which caused major problems for all parties concerned). Having this opinion will not gain you too many fellow c

Hmmm, gotta disagree, lolliwag. "Rabies" is a great album, but is far surpassed in scope, sound, and execution by their other albums, specifically "Vivisect VI" and "Too Dark Park", the latter being my personal fave. "Rabies" always came off to me as one of their weakest albums in that their sound is all over the place; theres no cohesiveness, although I gotta say "Tin Omen" and "Worlock" are some of their best songs. Also, Ministry was fucking awesome, but to me it seems Al has lost his way.

Yep. Ministry is dead. Did'nt really care for much after "Dark Side of the Spoon". Too Bad. Saw them live here in Detroit at The State Theatre supporting "Spoon", Coal Chamber opened, good concert, but Al got busted lip-syncing on "Bad Blood". I left the pit and started drinking at the bar. Upside- the bass player from Coal Chamber was just wearing a bra and a short catholic schoolgirl skirt. Neat!

Yeah, for me they reached their peak with Psalm 69, or arguably, The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste. Since then, their albums have gotten progressively worse, probably due to the fact that Al Jourgensen thinks hes in a death metal band or something; he needs to stop trying to replicate Psalm 69 and sound all heavy. As The Land of Rape and Honey would show, you can be super aggressive and only have a guitar here and there.
