Well the video is a rip-off of the Star Wars "Return of the Jedi", movie, in specific the visit to Tatooine and Jabba the Hutt's Palace. Nevertheless it is really fascinating.

If you guys are wondering what all this alien imagery is for. I'm sure its used to promote some movie (a movie that MUST HAVE tanked, since none of us can remember these clips), just how "When The Going Gets Tough..." was used to promote "Jewel Of the Nile."

No, unfortunately not. It was the 'zeitgeist'-- alot of movies like Star Wars had just come out and the video was a take on them. It was also one of the most advanced videos made at the time, and probably still is.

That's odd...usually music videos would intercut between the video and movie (i.e. "The Goonies R Good Enough" by Cyndi Lauper & "Goonies", "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship & "Manniquen"), the directors must have been "on something" (LOL) if they thought the audience could follow such a storyline by itself within the music video.

Something that floored me - according to Wiki, this charted at #2 in the USA! I had no idea, and I was there when it came out.
Billy had some awesome vocal chops.
And yeah, as a 12-year-old geek, I liked the low-rent Star Wars aesthetic of the video. :)
You young'uns have to remember, this was just after Return Of The Jedi had kinda faded off the scene, and we were hard up for ANY sci-fi. The new movies were still 12 years off.
