Archuleta caters to the newer generation of music. Cook goes back to an older style. Different singing styles...hard to say which is better. As with most things it's a matter of opinion.

He beat Archuleta because Archuleta was boring. He may have a good voice but he didn't take the kind of risks Cook did. Cook was more original, did his own arrangements for many songs, never did karaoke and one can only listen to so many ballads. Cook had 11 songs on Billboard 100 at the same time-a record not seen since 1964 while Archie had only 3. That's not a coincidence--it's fact.

ok i love DC. he not only has talent and looks and also a personality of a moms dream son in law haha buttttt i am getting tired of the tears...or the watery eyes. ive never seen a guy tear up so much. but tears dont really run down, sometimes i question if theyre real or just part of the act. Still love him, i'm just saying...if you watch a lot of his videos, he tears up in 90 percent of them. i know hes happy and grateful buttt maybe, theyre part of his act.

This is my favorite performance of his I think. Even more than "Always Be My Baby" (which I love to death). I mean of all the sure hits he had already on the show, he could have sang any one of them, but he didn't. He sang something that was thoughtful and new. That's why I love him. This performance is gorgeous.

Again, Archuleta sells well to his target audience, Cook sells more to a collective audience. Collective being that he has more variety than archuleta from what we've seen, and it is the reason he won. Whether or not he is better than cook is debatable, whether or not archuleta should've won this contest is not. Archuleta's target audience will not beat a collective audience. If he wanted to win the competition, he would've taken a few risks and gone outside of his element. He didn't.

I suppose, as with everything, it's a matter open for debate. But, I believe the tears are sincere. Here, for example, he's "ending" a part of his life that was incredibly intense for months, and literally, he has no idea what he will do next. If you've ever been in a similar position, it is jarring, emotional, and intense.
P.S. This song and his performance was beautiful, even Simon agreed once he heard it at home on TV that night. Which is why we got the first Simon apology, ever! :-)

with my last comment i didnt mean that all of his tears could be fake i just meant maybe some of them. because sure i believe he was sad in this video or in a couple others. i know hes grateful and i know he is a human with emotions. its just sooo much.
