I agree that endless infinite regression makes no sense. It has to start somewhere. That is where God comes in. Science and Theology both agree that something had to start everything, since life starts and some point and ends at another. They just disagree as to who did it. The Case for a Creator and The Case for Faith both by Lee Strobel are excellent books regarding exploring these very issues.

Well if you think about it God is science. Through science we are able to understand our world. One day we will find the key sub atomic component for matter and life. We have no choice. It is our instincts that drive us to know more. We don't really need to know how(for example)rocks are formed. But we study it never the less.
