Hey Maria, Just so you know, people are messing with you in order to make you mad. If you want to have an intelligent conversation about the state of Iraq, I think I can accomodate that. I have a Masters in Anthropology and two years of Middle Eastern Studies, so I'm not just somebody with an opinion. I know what I am talking about and can provide you proof of my claims. I mentioned the honor killings and Female Genital Mutilation because they are real and you know it.

I just read your post, and i agree with you on the issue, but you are taking them backword, let me put it in this context,
Honor killing is built in the law in Jordan ( one of the strongest allies of the US), and Female Genital mutilation is the biggest issue in egypt which is another huge allies to the US, and both of these issues became bigger in Iraq after the conservative government that got set in Iraq under the name of scared majority vote.

Inyousif, the changes to the Iraqi government have led to some problems, which should be expected anytime a governmental change takes place, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to blame the government for an increase of the dehumanization of women considering it's been going on for many hundreds of years. Crimes against women may indeed have risen due to the war, but I fail to make the link directly to the government.

Not in every society, and as a Masters degree holder, you should have learned by now, NOT to stereotype! Yes, you do have them, but it's not really something going on every day, not in Iraq, that's the least where you can find it in the Middle East. So, keep your degree for you, I'm born in that Country, so your degree means shit to me. By the way, I got my masters & bachelors & 2 associate degrees, that has nothing to do with Iraq.
