Can you give a online source for all this, because everywhere I look Tom Jones, it says in 1999 he did a cover of Talking Head's Burning down the house.
Seriously though, even if Tom Jones is the creator of this song(which I don't think he is), almost everyone thinks the Talking Head's version is better so why argue about it.

No you are severely misinformed. Tom Jones wrote it first, it is a common misconception that Talking Heads wrote this song. Tom Jones began performing this song live in the late sixties and allowed Talking Heads to release a cover version. He finally released a studio version in 2001.

It's all in Tom Jones' autobiography. Most people believe Tom Jones covered this song but he actually did it first, the Talking Heads version is both a cover and far inferior.

Garthis you are being very arrogant. MC was telling the truth, he just mis-spelt. It is "Tom Jones - The Biography". By Gwen Russel, 2007, John Blake Publishing. Check Amazon.
Being a big Jones fan I read it earlier this year. He states how he thinks it is funny how Byrne gets all the credit even though he (jones) wrote it.
But he is also very tactful. As he is a nice guy. A good read!

It is only a biography, but it was wrote with alot of his input. So it is sort of an autobiography, at least as much as many supposed "celebrity" "autobiographies" are these days.

erm BULLSHIT!!!!!! THE SONG WAS WROTE BY TALKING HEADS FOR THE ALBUM SPEAKING IN TONGUES 1983. The song was covered in a "Weird Al" Yankovic polka, and also by Tom Jones with The Cardigans in Jones's 1999 album Reload. SO FOR HEAVENS SAKE SHUT IT WITH THIS NON-SENSE U R-TARDS!!!!!

I feel like retracting this apology, the more I look at the Tom Jones version here, and at various other online sources, I find that the only people here that seem to believe this are MC, grtw, and a few other assorted people who only comment here, and MC didn't only get the title wrong, he also missed the author, I don't believe you guys anymore, and until I see some more people supporting this, I probably never will.
