I read it and I ... ( 3 weeks ago by rmader989)
I read it and I wasn't impressed. I thought that his portrayal of Fascism was biased by his political ideals. Which is normal, I don't think anyone DOESN'T have an opinion on Fascism. But when you ask me if I'd rather have Anarchy over Fascism, you're not giving me a choice. Complete lack of society and order over complete intolerance. Nothing or slavery. I want neither. I think socialism is the only morally right way to run the world.
All citizens get ... ( 3 weeks ago by rmader989)
All citizens get equal care, while people can still be ambitious and gain what they deserve for what they do. There should be order, but there should be a baseline for care of the average citizen, i.e. health care, housing, and food. I think Capitalism has wounded Democracy, a voice is not enough for the citizens, in modern times, a government must CARE for it's people. Communism is to harsh, and it destroys the ambitious and the individual. Anarchy is nothing, no care for the average citizens.
See, the problem ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChairmanKiel)
See, the problem here is that he was talking about a romantic view of Anarchy, which he said. Many Intellectuals support the idea of romantic Anarchy, but there are many types of anarchy. the one that you are refering to is just one of them, a version that does not have the support of the main stream Anarchists. The ideas of Anarchy have a lot of potential and merit, but as many intellectuals agree, would never possibly work, because not everyone is intelligent enough to follow it.
Now by me saying ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChairmanKiel)
Now by me saying that most people are not smart enough is in no way inferring to you. It is a simple fact of life. The idea of anarchy is basically pure capitalism. Everyone is supporting themselves, and making their own decisions, and no one is being run by a offical leader. Everyone is their own leader. But this doesn't mean there isn't a society. It just means that the people run themselves, and rely on their intelligence and resources. They can work together, but they are all individuals.
I agree, everyone ... ( 3 weeks ago by rmader989)
I agree, everyone does not grasp the concept of Anarchy, romantic or otherwise, this is why it's neither plausible nor beneficial to average people. There must be sheep, there must be followers, if everyone was a lion, we'd all eat each other. Even organized religion repeatedly refers to people as "Sheep" or the "Flock" There is nothing wrong with some people following, it's the natural order of the world.
But to be so myopic ... ( 3 weeks ago by rmader989)
But to be so myopic as to assume that everyone can lead themselves is crazy. Where is the care for the elderly? Or the disabled? Or children? Anarchy pits everyone against each other, no common ground between indiviuals, no one to stop the unscrupulous, no authority to protect the people. What would you do when someone decides they really like your wife's (or husband's) body? One rape and one murder later, where would you be? What are your choices? Vigilantism? Or living in fear?
Well, there is one ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChairmanKiel)
Well, there is one of the chief problems in the idea. The usual response for these things is that it would rely on peer pressure from the community. Which is the exact opposite of individual freedom. So no. No one is saying it would work.

Now we agree on something. :)
Can anyone name ... ( 3 weeks ago by jwalker1495)
Can anyone name anarchist literary works or well established anarchist theorists. How about anarchist activists? That's right you don't know. Who coined the word "anarchy?" Where does the word come from? Once you answer these I will consider a serious discussion; mind you in under 500 characters.

Anarchy isn't a ... ( 3 weeks ago by snoopay700)
Anarchy isn't a lack of society, its a lack of government. I am an anarchist, but i don't advocate anarchy for the very same reasons you said, it wouldn't work in practice, but on paper it looks great and ideally would be the best and most moral way to run a government, however like i said anarchy won't ever work because there are too many stupid assholes.

It would be nice for everyone to be a master of his destiny. I aggree with you that it wouldnt work irl. UNfortunatly people are essentialy evil and selfish. How would goods ship accross seas? And a million other reasons. I dont know, I think about it alot. Maybe humans have the government we deserve. Maybe the only people who can keep us in line have to be assholes because we are assholes.

Anarchy, not by ... ( 2 weeks ago by speedjerk245)
Anarchy, not by popular definition but by precising definition, is life with out constraints--complete freedom. It is not impossible for a society to live under such a notion, providing that society followed some doctrine such as Christian Anarchism. However, that would mean that every person (not citizen because we are not dealing with government here but the lack there of) would have to be a Christian Anarchist (by choice). Works by Tolstoy and Kierkegaard as well as ADDENDUM the movie.
Very interesting. ... ( 2 weeks ago by speedjerk245)
Very interesting. However, would Christian Anarchism supersede NT Romans 13, which requires Christians to follow their government--providing that government is fairly governing--not suppressing via tyranny (for example: enslaving through taxation such as our Federal Reserve system of credit)?

I think that we have the governments we allow. A country that does not want to be ruled by a certain government won't be, because there is no way you can stop a nation of angry people. Sadly, we allow bad governments because the government tells us they know best, and people buy it.
I agree with Alan ... ( 1 week ago by WillScarlet16)
I agree with Alan Moore that Anarchy is the most morally sensible form of government. But I just can't bring myself to trust people enough to handle themselves without falling into divisions and letting a new tyranny take over
Nor should you ... ( 1 week ago by macabreiceman)
Nor should you trust the next person in a society running off of moral sensibility of Anarchy, because people habitually will do whatever they believe they can get away with, or avoid consequences of their actions.
I think if you listen to when Alan reads from V for Vendetta you'll find it's suggested as a tool for change, rather than an actual form of governing a population. To be used, and when it's purpose is complete, to be cast aside.
