Creation Astronomy Propaganda Debunked 01

Video Description:
The pilot episode of 'CrAP Debunked'. If you liked this video, please help to spread it. Various images/videos produced by ESA/NASA/ESO.
Errata:
1. The phrase "Infinite volume hypothesis" is incorrect here. I meant to say either "Infinite density hypothesis" or "Zero volume hypothesis" (each implies the other).
2. Typo. The proton is in fact around one TRILLION times smaller than a full stop, not one billion.
3. Typo. This should of course read "..YouTube account". Thanks to Agnostic1 for making me aware of that!

I'll watch it, no problem. However, you should probably know that I don't weep when my beliefs are challenged, nor do I believe that any scientific theory can be toppled by a Youtube video.
Thanks for providing a link by the way, I can see you really take this seriously...
Ok, watched the ... ( 2 days ago by Stuartsaves)
Ok, watched the video. It's an interesting theory, I think Carl Sagan once proposed something like it (but don't quote me on that...)
I fail, however, to see what that has to do with anything, are you trying to prove a global scientific conspiracy exists, and therefore the universe isn't billions of years old? I must count this as a non-sequitur, I'm afraid

We talking about the same video? The "Expanding Earth" conspiracy theory?
Well, this is the ... ( 1 day ago by Stuartsaves)
Well, this is the first I've heard of it. It is interesting in and of itself, I haven't actually done any fact checking as of yet, so it might prove false later. Right now though, yes, it's interesting

But I assume that you've had education in basic matters regarding geology and astronomy in high school - specifically regarding the way it is thought that star systems form, and the way our planet has developed. It would be very surprised if you did not know that the things you were told in highschool presented the view of the vast (99+ %) majority of the scientific community for a number of decades now, if not longer.

I'd also be surprised if you had never heard of such things as GPS, relativity theory, conservation of mass, etc... Certainly you're just humoring Entropy56?

Well, I've been looking over the facts regarding this expanding earth theory, and it does seem pretty far fetched, since it doesn't provide a mechanism to explain said expansion, and it also ignores things like the process of subduction and a lot of other verified findings.
And, be clear that I'm no scientist, yes I've heard of relativity theory, conservation of mass and such things, but how they relate to the earth expanding or not I couldn't tell you.
But it is, as I said, interesting.

And being interesting doesn't make it right, and I never said it did. Actually, if it had any real merit, I would think more of the scientific community would support it.

Ah, simple. If the Earth were expanding at anything near the rate claimed, we could measure it using GPS. If it were smaller in the past, then either it had less mass, or everything we know (and observe) about physics is wrong. Less mass would mean a radically different atmosphere. While it is at the basis of GPS, I named R.T. just for good measure ;) Certainly there are many other facts the E.A. violates.

Ahh yes, the increase in mass is a good point.
Now I can say I learned something today. Well, actually several somethings by my count

Throw in the Global Warming hoax and you have enough information to know how reliable science is at dealing with things far into the future and far into the past.

Sadly, you have not proved anything. This is not to say the other guy is correct. You throw some jargon (sorry, I'm educated and not easily confused) around acting as if it is truth. For example, at one pt you speak of gravity. using the same argument you use against creationists, go ahead and show me gravity. you can't. you can show me the effects of gravity, but you can not actually show me gravity. therefore, like God, you are simply believing based on interpretation of effects.

GW may or may not be a hoax. But MMGW most certainly is COMPLETELY unproven. It is the next "crisis" necessary for the involved parties to make a fortune and force a lifestyle upon you whilst they do as they please.

Kenfo, Actually, ... ( 22 hours ago by CodeSculptor)
Kenfo, Actually, the theory of gravity posits a mechanism of operation, explains observations, and generates reproducable predictive outcomes. It is complete. The position on gravity is that it is an illusion caused by the curvature of space and time. To that end, we can show you that space and time are clearly being distorted in an empirically demonstrable way and precisely in accordance with the theory.

Code: thanks for ... ( 11 hours ago by kenfo0)
Code: thanks for writing. I am aware of the theories regarding gravity. My point is that if a religious group changes it's mantra, it is immed. assailed as "aha! you were wrong!". In science, we call this progress. Scientific understanding of gravity has evolved over time, and it is not nearly complete, as your post would have one beleive. Some believe gravity is not a force at all, but an expression of the interaction of other fundamental forces (the pt of my post).
A very dangerous ( ... ( 11 hours ago by kenfo0)
A very dangerous (incorrect) analogy. For example, someone could have visited the victim just before the murder (dna, fingerprints) after his gun was taken to kill the victim (then put back). I spell this out for the terminally silly. How many have been wrongly convicted of a crime based on "evidence"....many. An eye-witness may even be worse proof.
I especially object ... ( 7 hours ago by burchdc)
I especially object when they try to claim that science is a belief system or even a religion. Science is about as far from religion as one could get. Scientists don't "believe" theories, they accept them based on evidence. Are there still questions science hasn't answered? Of course, and there always will be. Otherwise our need for science would be done. But just because we haven't answered some questions doesn't mean we haven't answered any.
