Hee hee Land of coke is dire I agree! I remember my girlfriend would play it insisting it was the only "listenable" thing in my softs collection. Girls hate soft machine - and beefheart lol ( oops prob opened a can o worms here.......

I saw this tour as a 15 yr old with big wide eyes!! It was at Free Trade Hall Manchester UK. I was fascinated with Roy Babbingtons 5 string bass and I remember the ambient synth flavours anticipating rave and dance music by about 12 yrs!! And Allan? I'd never heard anything like it nor have since. Talk about cooking? I also tried to curl my hair under wit hairdryer ( I was awestruck 15 for crissakes! lol

you obviously haven't heard much of his solo work. try Metal Fatigue, Atavachron, Sand. His playing improved with each album, until some time in the late 80's when he reached God-level. Peace.
