Well unless you want to be an ignorant soab who does not know where the sun is, you should need informations. CNN has feeds and reading them is very useful.

Feedreader is junk (I use it...), and most decent browsers have built in RSS support... Anyway, nice to see some people at our school aren't idiots. ^^
