it was never proved that Jesus was born on Dec 25th. Scientists (your mortal enemies) have enough evidence to say that he wasn't born close to winter time at all.
"Christmas" was originally a pagan holiday, and Christians STOLE IT from them, because they couldn't convert them.

Christians know that He was not born on Dec. 25th. The important thing is that we have a day to honor HIS birth and the purpose for it. The rest is just semantics.

December has holidays for many major religions, including Pagans, Hindus, and Christians. It's not a matter of stealing a holiday, it's just everyone celebrating. Why shouldn't we all celebrate together?

I put Christmas in quotations. Obviously the pagans didn't name their holiday Christmas. They were celebrating a winter solstice, which Christ has nothing to do with.
The Christians renamed the holiday, they WERE stealing it after all. Now go back to your bible.

You are correct, without the presents, Christmas wouldn't stand out so much, and we COULD celebrate together.

The date of His birth was probably nowhere near December 25 and many of the Christmas customs very well could have come from pagan holidays, but the important thing is that we remember His birth and this song helps us keep perspective on the significance of it.

I'ts not a take-over. Pagans are more than welcome to celebrate, and they do. It's just a date. How many people have birthdays on the same day? Does that mean only one person gets to celebrate? No. More than one group is welcome to celebrate at the same time.
And the presents aren't the meaning of Christmas. They're the capitalist/consumerist version of what the Holiday is all about.

Pagans may have celebrated winter solstice, but many other cultures around the world have celebrated their own festivals of birth and rebirth of their gods on that day as well. So it's not surprising that Christians have their own celebration of the earthly birth of their God, Jesus Christ, and named their celebration after Him.

Pagans and other cultures still have festivals and celebrate winter solstice on that day, nothing has changed there. They just don't call their celebrations "Christmas" because they're not observing Christ.
So unless pagans or other cultures are no longer free to celebrate and worship as they choose on the day as well, then nothing has been "stolen" from them.

This song means so much to me and really touches my heart. Our church is not putting up a traditional Christmas tree this year. We're having a huge wooden cross put up behind the pulpit this year. They're adding red lights behind it that will reflect off the wall. Below it we're having a baby in a manger. Like the song said...it's about the cross. God Bless and Merry Christmas!

It's always great when people like you show up, you encourage Christians to think for themselves and to learn how to defend their faith, as the Bible says. We need people like you so we know how to be more relevent to other non-belivers.

Good for you guys! We have never done the tree for the same reason you are: it is all about the Death Burial and Resurrection! I am so tired of seeing Christmas shows at churches and the most central part of the gospel is never mentioned. It is like we forgot 1 Cor 15. May God bless you in your celebrating your salvation in the way you are doing!!!
