Get a grip you ... ( 3 weeks ago by newgreenjack)
Get a grip you post-feminist chauvinists! It's not about switching the power to women and upsetting the balance in favour of the female (as opposed to the current war/greed led, male favoured balance!), it's about the fact that girls in many developing countries are seen as a waste of resources - surplus to requirements - worth only as much as the dowry they raise.
Sheesh.

For some reason I find this really depressing. I suppose it's laudable (?), but I'm not convinced, somehow. It just seems vacuous. It's capitalist, basically, isn't it? I suppose that's it - the idea that capitalism brings ultimate fulfilment, and if only everyone was capitalist like us in the West it would all be as happy and shiny as a TV commercial.

Who made this video ... ( 1 week ago by speeeed69)
Who made this video? Ridiculous. AIDS,HUNGER,WAR,POVERTY? All result of males and a male dominant society.........? Although there is a valid argument here that society is predominately male influenced. But the message is defining such a narrow solution to a very broad problem. Stopping poverty,HIV,war? You think giving a girl a chance is going to solve this? And how isn't government going to aid in this process? And if not government, how won't this involve lots of money? Read a book.

The point is that a giving someone who who probably wouldn't have that great of a chance, which in this case is usually a girl. Females are still degraded in our world, and the "solution" as they see it is giving someone who has so much will power and determination a chance in life to make a difference. With that difference many others will follow and make futher more differences, hopefully making the world a better place. They said male only once in this video. You should learn how to read.
Girls are degraded, ... ( 1 week ago by speeeed69)
Girls are degraded, i agree with you, males are as well, although differently, usually manipulated or controlled. Societies in these developing countries haven't modernized to what we in the west are used to, and the male female subordination hasn't modernized either. The commercial focuses on the wrong idea, focusing on the woman rather than fixing the whole societal metaphor which is going to take a lot more than the narrow description of this commercial. Definitely a feminist commercial.

i agree all the way with the comments. girls and boy are both disregarded no matter the gender or age. im a and out of everyone in my school im probably picked on the most by the teachers for no absolute reason and i think my 8th period teacher hates me(srry if i got off topic) but still, they say if a boy can win the olympic gold 3 times a girl can double that and a boy can even double that if put to his/her best ablities. I think that the world has to many bias opinons, and that needs to stop.

I realize some strongly disagree with this video, as they feel that it is anti-male. Please, I encourage you to see past this and see the value in investing in our girls as well as our boys (not in lieu of our boys). But globally we are still seeing that 80% of our poor are women & girls. It is these women and girls that afflicted disproportionally by disease, violence, human trafficking, etc. We cannot overlook these facts.

This video is great. People are pissed off that it focuses on GIRLS to create change but this is exactly what needs to be done!! Who births and raises our next generations?? GIRLS. Yeah it may SEEM unfair but the world has ALWAYS been unfair to women and girls. It's time to correct this unfairness and equalize the economic differences of males and females!!!!

The world is a mess, who will save it, government?no... money?no..science?no...internet?no.. its... a boy.....
Now...boys minus poverty and minimal living conditions, minus disease and corruption, minus wives, minus corrupt governments and pollution regulations = a chance!
Because this video is well done it makes people(females especially) take a wrong(uneducated) outlook at how to solve a major problem...

I send $27 monthly ... ( 6 days ago by grapatin)
I send $27 monthly to support an Afghani woman. She is a mother of five, her husband is unemployed, and she is illiterate. With my donation, her children can stay in school (otherwise, the dropout rate is 75% by fifth grade). She receives job training, and can pay for health care. When she supports the schools, the teachers can be paid, benefiting those families, too. When her 3 girls and 2 boys grow up, they may employ other villagers. It's not really a donation; it's my investment in her.
According to ... ( 6 days ago by grapatin)
According to Mohammad Yunnus, Nobel Peace Prize winner for discovering microcredit loans, women who receive such loans start businesses that provide an average of 184 days of employment for their household. Microcredit builds watertight houses, drills water wells, and introduces crops that can grow in the seasons when traditional crops won't. Villages have clean water and food all year from this. Men can farm year-round, which reduces AIDS cases brought on by migration to cities for work.
