Performance wise windows XP might lack a few features that Vista has. Overall performance in Windows XP is just allot better!
See Windows XP was the perfect combination (and yes it took till Sp1 before it really was stable enough) of a gaming/media and yet work OS.
I agree Vista in the core is safer I YOU USE IT SAFER! Beyond that it didn't add that much it wasn't a killer upgrade.

In the early days software was just equally expensive as parts. Right now well having to add another 300 dollars to your order for software on a 500 dollar pc. Yeah that hurts!

I thought it was interesting when he mentioned that he was trying to remove the blotated feel of the Windows product line. I must admit, I have an Apple imac in my house, and shockingly, I really do prefer Windows-it's more response in my opinion! Great video, thankyou for sharing with us!

Your stupid, If your machine is relitivly fast Vista will always be quicker.
The reason people complain about Vista taking up too much ram is because when its not in use, Vista will cache commonly used files so they are accessed quicker later.
If more ram is needed the files are dropped.
You would be stupid not to use Vista, unless your running it from a computer built in the stoneage.

It is in the end a question of money. I find that YES we have to buy things legal! But..when hardware that is decent enough is only about 600 dollars together then Vista looks quite expensive to add to that..
Also because Vista mimimum requirements are so high and it is so expensive it is missing out the NETBOOK market. You know the CHEAP laptops!
People nowadays see that you don't require a super expensive pc..laptops are hot and for some a netbook is perfect.

I would agree with you about the money, but at the end of the day it is about an operating system you are happy with, it should be a one off purchase. It depends on what the laptop will be used for, if it's a pensioners computer for browsing the internet; they arn't going to care about Vista.
But for some people they may need to have that extra performance.
The requirements aren't high at all, at hardware prices these days it doesn't take a lot for an extremely capable machine.

True it is all about the market and you know we consumers AREN"T the most important to microsoft. No it are the schools, the businesses, the universities the GOVERMENTS! Those contracts are fat..there is the money!

And right now the alternatives are of such quality..those underdogs aren't so bad! Also the way they bought a standard that is unusable..it is all negative news!

Yeah I agree, I've never had a problem with the UAC; but it has been a major complaint.
They have a system like this, but they would complain that XP isn't secure enough.
