Supposed to work as well as the division of the nerve. I have done it in patients, who are warried about the compensatory sweating, and have to admit that one patient had one side failure. Also, I had operated on 6 patients, who had clamping and failed shortly thereafter. Therefore, I prefer dividing the nerve eventhough it's irreversible. Patients need to discuss this with their surgeons. Dr. K.

The reason I ask is because after 6 years, the sweating is starting to come back a little bit now. My hands are cold and clammy and it is affecting my ability to be a great salesman. Is there any way to stop the sweating? Clogging my pores with AlCl isn't fun and it stings when my hands "try" to sweat. Can more nerves be severed aside from the T2 segment? I don't need to sweat, I'll stay indoors forever if I have to.

I think this is the same Dr. Konecny I spoke to over the phone a few years ago (for blushing). I think he's in Anaheim and I asked him a few questions and he said he cuts the nerves (not clamps) but at least he was honest in that he hadn't done many surgeries for blushing as he had for sweaty palms & I think he said it would be about 85% success rate for blushing.

Sorry about your bad outcome. I also spoke to Dr. Reisfeld in Beverly Hills a few years ago for the blushing and he encouraged me to try other alternatives like Beta Blockers first before considering it and he's the top ETS surgeon in Bev. Hills (who successfully did the ETS for sweaty palms on someone I know). He also clamps (not cuts) the nerves in case there's problems, then it can be reversed. Does anyone know what can be done about the blushing issue??? Please reply.

Ets literally destroyed my life. That zombie feeling is all too real. I went from having the world in my palm, to having nothing and feeling like nothing. I've lost most of my hair, eyebrows.. i'm only 24 and should be in my prime years, but this surgery took it away from me. Went from being able to get any girl i want, to being alone. Stay away.. the end.

oh my god,i m confused.after doing all the research ,some r saying ETS is good & some r saying it made them disabled.what to do ??????i m suffering frm it and it sucks.i m not able to play my guitar ,my exams doesnt complete on time ,people avoid shaking my hand lol.Help meeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

I have sweaty hands ... and i did the surgery for my right hand only (the doctor said im too young to do the both together ) ... it is amazing ..

best decision i've ever made. i swear. i'm so sorry to those that suffered from it. i had mine done by a cardiothoracic surgeon at emory in atlanta. he was the first to do the procedure at the mayo clinic. wonderful man. wonderful procedure. the compensatory sweating can be annoying at times, but is nothing compared to what my underarms used to do. i'm *SO* happy. no regrets.
