Yes you read correctly, TECH demo. She's fake. She IS the demo.
Until the 1:30 mark when they revert back to the source (the real actress), her entire face is being simulated by the technology.

You can tell Emily isn't real, because of her eyes. They have almost no glint in them at all. It's like you can tell there is no emotion behind their face. THAT'S cgi's true downfall.

She's real, the only part CGI is when they messed up her face, the software just uses motion capture without the dots and the bunch of cameras that you normaly need for this

I feel the same way you do. All of these shit talkers saying "I knew it was fake all along" or other things along those lines are full of shit!! If Image Metrics continues with this technology, they not only broke through but built a bridge over the 'uncanny valley' and 'fake' from real seems to be no more.

that's not true. in the part where they 'mess up her face' is actually when they only show single maps - diffuse and specular map and at last only the wireframe model - (i guess they are using some more like a bump map and environment map) but all these maps combined plus the realistic wireframe model of emily can trick your eyes

It appears they are simply at a level where the fake computer image is physically correct.. and thus the visual cortex is not sufficient on its own to establish if the image is from a camera or a CG.
I presume the voice is done by a real girl which helps fool the brain... like "the voice is real so the image is probably real too"
And the fact that her face follows the speech.
Adapt and prepare yourselves for the day such tech falls into evil hands. :-D

The first time I saw it, I completely fell for it, what beautiful/scary technology.
If I had to say if ANYTHING were off, it would be the eyes, not that they don't look real, but the blinking isn't quite fast enough. Then again, eyes are the hardest thing to get correct.
And like I said, first time through, I totally bought it, and part of me still wants to buy that it's an actress and not CG.

I do find it impressive. Of course it isn't perfect, but pretty close. I may be naive for asking, but what is the point? If you have to have an actor pose and act to make it work, why not just film the actor? Makeup & special effects go a long way these days. If the end result isn't supposed to be human, why bother filming human expressions?
