I always sided with the South, even though Northern born, because what the South did represents what ALL nations should do about tyranny.
Up, lest worse than death befall you!
To arms ! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!
Lo! All the beacon-fires are lighted,
Let all hearts be now united!
To arms ! To arms! To arms in Dixie!
Many people died for this flag I hope they did die in vain.
It is so frustrating when people that do not know enough about history yet voice there opinions based on hearsay. Maybe because they still can not read or write.
This is from an Australian.
Advance the flag of Dixie
Wide swaths of US history, more than 100 years, should be flushed out of toilet if the South's behaviour were deemed fully unacceptable. It is viciously circular, if not anachronistic, to try to purge science, history, etc. of elements deemed politically unfavourable. Newton's ideology doesn't make wishing Newton away any easier, or more prudent.
And what about the slave ships that went to Africa to trade goods for human cargo while proudly displaying the Stars and Stripes?
By your justifications which you just specified, you, by your own judgment, should rot in Hell for flying the American Flag, right?
No, I don't believe that you are racist. I do, however, believe that you are letting people who do not give the issue any thought dictate what you should appreciate. A good heart weathers hate without harm and a true mind toughs adversity without consequence.
What you praise and curse is your choice. I am merely clarifying your own thought process.
It is not my intention to change you. I admit I would like to see it, but that's not my aim. I just want to point out to you that you are vulnerable.
