If you think that a song sucks, A. Why are you listening to it? and B. You do not have to make a useless comment like this song sucks! or I hate this song. Personally I was never a big fan of techno/club dancing type music. BUT I like VNV Nation, they are great for relaxing, dancing, and about anything.

Ithink JosephK1980 is trying to say that these concepts are more complicated then just the ideas that can be discussed in song lyris. Ronin might actually be inclined to agree with him. He truly doesn't want people treating him like a demagog. He's much more likely to talk to someone who comes to hisconcert dressed like a normal person than someone in black lipstick and fishnets.

I think drwho1975 was trying to say that Ronan wouldn't want people to listen to his music just because it fell into a certain "category," but instead would want them to appreciate VNV Nation for the message they try to send.
As for the "books vs. music" discussion, I'm going to have to agree with dayrache here. Sure, skilled authors are very capable of evoking feeling, but true emotion is way too definite for words. That's why music is better than books at capturing and conveying meaning.

I do appreciate the band evolving, changing the theme of each album they release. It's great that vnv tries to do something out of the normal expected sound, yet still be recognized as being VNV.
Ronan is a genious. I just prefer the darker rougher sounding works from PTF and Empires.

The point had nothing to do about how people in black lipstick might act toward him. It's just more of a superficial thing to dress like that. My best friend does not dress like that (at all... not even a little) and Ronin made an effort to befriend her and remembers her every time he sees her. My opinion on that is that Ronin can tell someone who isn;t trying so hard to be goth is more interested in his music and may not be there for superficial reasons. This is not a judgement on all of them.

I dont know if I get you correctly but youre saying Ronin thinks goths are less interested in the music and more there for 'scene points' so to speak? I mean, I can see that happening. hahaha. Well there is no scene where I live, but Ive been a few places where there is one, and what I have learned is that a lot of 'goths' and goth affiliated people are just a bunch of immature drama queens. its sad, but true. The subculture unfortunately attracts a lot of misfits and outcasts because they think that they will fit in..these people want attention because they never got any before, and being drama laden helps with that. they really just end up looking like losers.
