I've adored Harry for decades. His voice is severely sublime. When you listen to him, you stop all activity. Apparently there's a new documentary about him called "Who is Harry Nilsson and Why is Everyone Talking About Him"? When can we see it? :) I adorew him. My H busts me all the time listening to him at 1 AM. :)

Thanks, JohnnyB. I've always been curious about Harry's post "Pussy Cats" output. I have a two-disc set called "Personal Best" that includes several of his later cuts. I really love Nilsson, but from "PB" am less enthused about the wee amount of post-Son of Schmillson output I've heard (except the one-off "Daybreak"). Yet SOS is my favorite album. Are there any later Nils albums that compare?

I like all those post-Pusy Cats albums very much, especially Sandman, which really got short shrift on PB.

Duit starts out strong, but kinda runs out of gas towards the end, ...That's the Way It Is has some interesting covers, Knillssonn is mostly string-accompanied pop songs, and Harry said that one was one of his favorites.

All of these have that sorta goofy "what the hell" party-time vibe that became his stock in trade in the mid-late 70's, recording with people like Klaus Voormann, Ringo, Van Dyke Parks, Danny Kortchmar, Dr. John, and others. Are any of these as strong, cut-for-cut, as SOS? Not really. But there is a lot of great music on all of them.

I have to disagree...Harry's in a class all by himself. I have never heard anything like him. He was absolutely amazing. A writing AND singing genius. LOVED his work. Still do. THE BEST.
