No offense but with the exception of " Goonland" I hated Pappy. He was so fricken mean to Popeye.
Yet can you blame him? Look at all those pretty girls on that island.I'm also a bit creeped out by the "drag" scene. It's one thing when Bugs does it to trick his enemies-it's quit another when Popeye is doing it to trick his Pappy into coming home with him.
Thanks for sharing this cartoon with us-as awful as it is-I enjoy being able to see "Banned" cartoons.

Since this island was more than likely in the south pacific, maybe the natives were polynesian or samoan stereotypes.

That's what I was thinking. I still think its Jack Mercer, but since the voice he was using for his mother at the beginning was the original "Pappy" voice, he changed it up for the other character. I don't recall both mom and pop appearing in one cartoon.

Famous Studios preferred not to use E.C. Segar's original supporting characters in later "Popeye" cartoons- this was "Poopdeck Pappy"'s last on-screen appearance, from January 1952. By that time, Famous had settled into the familiar rut of "Popeye vs. Bluto for Olive's affections" to carry the majority of their stories. Only the "nephews" (whose initial count of four had begun to decrease as well), created for the theatrical cartoons, continued as the only other "supporting players"...

Hey listen, this was done in 1952. There was absolute no aware of pc at all, and the animators surely did not this with the intent of offending someone, because they mocked just about everything.
Keeping cartoons like this off circoulation is a crime against art, in my opinion
