Why wasn't this song more successful for Ben? Wikipedia states that although it was a #2 Adult Contemporary hit, it only made it to #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles. This should have been a top 10 hit for him. What the heck happened?

Good question ! Stay the Night was one of the 80's bests (The Lace was top 40 hit). To me, is a beautiful, romantic and unfurgettable song...it touchs me deeply until now...a great inspiration of Benjamin Orr...maybe Ric was a little jealous (lol)...I like him (Ric), but Ben Orr's voice was always the best in my opinion...he sang with his soul and was my favorite one of The Cars...thanx fr yr comments !

Yep, the vid was in heavy rotation at MTV. That is why I was so surprised that the song stalled out at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. I mean, I heard the song everywhere. I mean, the radio airplay and MTV exposure should have pushed the song into the Top 10. Just my (very pointed) opinion! lol.
