really???
amazing...integral calculus and linear circuit analysis..at 13 you say????
fascinating
i assume you also taught her that creationism was actually a philosophy and not a science?
Krazy: I'm sorry I ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Krazy: I'm sorry I was referring to calculus. I was trained in Econometrics-Statistics and Financial modeling. I focused almost 100% on reading comprehension, Grammar (not being enforced in this note), and applied trig/algebra/calculus/statistics. By the time she was 13 her math skills were beyond my own and she entered our local Junior college and is graduating with an A.S in two months.
Not all homeschoolers are religionists, if I read your implications correctly. I taught her to meditate.
does she still ... ( 7 months ago by aesrp)
does she still understand them or did she at that time? I must stay, she's determined if she were to learn this that young. I'm not doubting you but that's impressive. I commend you.
Aesrp: I was ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Aesrp: I was referring to the math, not the physics.
I taught her to read at 5 1/2, by time she was 7 she was reading at 12th grade level.
Math I started her at 6 with add/sub in algebra, then by 7 multi/divi in algebra, then by 8 same plus a little trig and calculus, by 9 full trig and lil' more calc and lots of logic exercises. Same at 10 and 11, plus some biology/entomology. We kept repeating until she was 12 1/2 and I put her in JC. I ran out of math at 11 so we repeated, haha.

Reid Barton was home-schooled, graduated from MIT last year, and he's an arguably smarter than Feynman was.
Well, they do. And ... ( 7 months ago by lpena532)
Well, they do. And actually even younger people do, since many of the freshmen skip these courses with an advance standing exam.
actually we do. ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
actually we do.
i am sure your ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
i am sure your daughter will grow up to be as pompous and full of herself as you. i also suspect she will be very socially awkward. she might be understanding these concepts...but i doubt she will have much success in life, as it requires good social skills. all these 'hot housed' children turn out to be freaks.
it is funny how you ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
it is funny how you think other people are geniuses...are you really not that smart? or have low self-esteem? everything is so extraordinary to you...it is really amusing.
here is an impression of you. "Wow, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?! how did you make that? that is incredible.
Radical: You do not ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: You do not know me or my daughter and did you follow all of my comments and those I was commenting too? Your finalities are stereotypical arguments against homeschooling.
My daughter was not isolated, man what harsh thoughts annonymity allow! She ran track, played soccer, 6 years of Capoeira, and was on the gymnastic team (3 years). I teach Defensive Tactics and she is one of my best students and participated in teaching children and adults. I think her socialization is fine.
defensive tactics.. ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
defensive tactics...well i am sure she will make a fine superhero one day.
Radical: Why the ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: Why the anger - is it the destruction of the dollar, the 900,000 homes in foreclosure in california alone, the war in Iraq, what's your particular bug?
In my world (how I was raised) it's okay to be self-confident as long as its based on something. It's part of the hip-hop movement, self-agrandisement. The roots of which come out of black-conscious movement of the 60's (Malcolm X -- and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela).
Socialism/Communism/Neocons is anti-thesis
please, spend more ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
please, spend more time with your daughter and not talking to me. i am sure you have more things to brainwash her with...actually, keep writing back. give her a few moments to form her own thoughts.
Radical: Your ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: Your sarcasm/anger is amusing. Seriously, what comes up from your past that tells you to rebel against a font like me? Is it because I believe in rugged individualism (as did Christ, as did Buddha, as did Malcolm X -to an extent- as did Gandhi, as did Yogananda, as did Ayn Rand, as did Mises)?
Just curious - I'm glad to have come to this country - America - as a young man, as we are freer here than anywhere else.
Radical -- you must ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical -- you must be a liberal, she is in the liberal college system; she's in the capable hands of our grand collegiate system (God help her, but we must all jump through hoops, right?). I guess you imagine that public teachers instruct us in individualistic thinking or are you a socialist? That's why you came up the very unique observation (the socialization comment) that no home schooling parent has ever hear. You ppl kill me *parroting* "homeschooling ahhharrgh no socialization ahhharrgh"
liberal? i am not a ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
liberal? i am not a part of a political party. i guess by your comment you are a republican though. why don't you listen to some of the criticisms you homeschoolers get. it is not a conspiracy theory. you are exposed to more people without always having mommy hold your hand.
wow, does your ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
wow, does your daughter have a messianic complex too? are you members of that cult in utah?
this guy is a QUACK ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
this guy is a QUACK. what the hell is he talking about....intuition is a magnetic field. he might as well be saying "jabba wabba babba" repeatedly as he draws spaghetti on the chalkboard.
Radical: I see you ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: I see you do not like my "liberal" labeling, yet you've done nothing but lable and generalize. I'm "more of" a Ron Paul Republican (more like a Civil-Libertarian), but it's hard to label oneself in such broad strokes. If you want to "know me" you'll ask questions in an amicable manner and make judgement from the content of my character rather than make such board sweeping generalities.
i think you should ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
i think you should lighten up and learn to laugh. i suspect you will need a good sense of humor when your daughter starts getting exposed to other ideas and begins to change her view as her mind opens. who knows, she might bring me home for dinner one of these days.
Radical: Are you ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: Are you assuming that I suffer from religiousity? I practice Raja Yoga, I was raised in the AME church and left because I wanted "experience" of God. Later I refined my goals interms of ever-new joy and ever-new bliss that is the conscious root of all things, some call it God/Allah/Buddha -- I think those "masters" were referring to an experience and not blind belief, I want to experience that truth. At the least I'd like to become a more efficient think, more entrepreneurial.
Radical: She'd have ... ( 7 months ago by OctoBox)
Radical: She'd have to close her mind to be interested in a generalist who attacks people behind a cloak of annonymity, smile.
I love a good laugh, as I said, your "finalities" based on scant information is "amusing to me." See, I have a good sense of humor, hahaha.
Good Luck -- I'll let you have the last word!
i am not a ... ( 7 months ago by RadicalNotion)
i am not a generalist. it seems you are the one generalizing...
