Utter nonsense. The heat turns your lungs to liquid. You effectively drown rather than suffocate. A pyroclastic surge is extremely hot. To say the heat would not kill you is frankly bizarre.

I believe most are, the best explanation is an avalanche of rock rubble and super heated compnents. When they get down the whole mountain though I doubt they are still that how, also remember if its steam it will rise I believe not flow down.

CCPnoob, i have not come to harrass you again, but i went to the MVO (montserrat volcano observatory) and asked them what actually happens to you if you are caught in a pyroclastic flow. Basically what they told me is that it turns you into a foetus, like the heat makes you curl up like a developing baby. And yeah it is very hot.

Like, because heat rises and all, its cooler towards the bottom of the actual flow, but what it does, it slides down the hillside on the cooler air at the bottom, which allows it too move so fast :) does that clear stuff up for you and fat?
