Ethnic Indians protest in Malaysia - 24 Nov 07

Video Description:
Members of Malaysia's Indian community have protested on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, the capital.
They are demanding equal rights in a country they believe discriminates against them.
They are also said to place blame on the colonial policies of Britain, and were intending to deliver a petition to the British High Commission in Malaysia.
Al Jazeera's Hamish MacDonald was there.

Indians have rights to be equal citizens in Malaysia. I think some politicians in the country can be opressive to non-Malays. I am an advocator for giving equal rights to all Malaysians. We cant just blame everything to Britain for the divide rule cause we have gained independence for 51 years. I believe that we should give more help to ethnic minorities especially Orang Asli or Orang Asal and indigenous people in Borneo. I am a Malay myself and proud to be a Malaysian.

I cant believe that Malaysians are still racist towards each other. Why cant we build on contructive measures for a better Malaysia? I am dissatisfied with the current situation cause I believe that every Malaysians have the right to live equally. Eventhough I am a Malay myself but NEP didnt effect me at all. I came from a school where the majority were non-Malays but I was surely one of the top student(I worked hard) The government is not helping Org Asli and other ethic minorities enough.
