And yet, every minute of every day, a woman dies due to pregnancy or childbirth. That is more than 1400 dead every 24 hours -- more than 500,000 women a year. But change is possible. It is already happening.

Do you really think your petty little donation scheme is working? Sure, I could donate some money to help save a child, that will only grow up in obscene poverty... We need to solve this problem at the root, and prevent people with disease/ poverty from having kids in the first place! My heart goes to those living in poverty, but the longer we continue this, the longer the problem will persist! We need to implement something like the manhattan project, for a safe and secure mean of lasting birth

One of the most important times to offer family planning (contraception) is at the time of birth. The new mother has the opportunity to choose when or if she will have another child. Also, when women are receiving obstetric care that gives them a chance to find out about contraception. Women also have more trust in an organization that offers them a range of health care rather than only pushing sterilization or other contraceptive methods. That is why Engenderhealth is an effective donation.

Humanity has had a problem for 10,000+ or - years. I am so happy that this group has finally pointed this out.
Its natural for this to happen, and this is so dumb. It like an ad saying watch out cars kill save the people in the US because they have so many, its killing a lot of them you know. (well at least this kinda makes sense and is not a natural part of life).

Why is the solution ALWAYS less people? Aren't we smart enough to find ways to end hunger and poverty? Or are our hearts too small and our "brains" too big? Let's find solutions that don't include "less people=less problems".

No there is a real world out there Anniebh.
See the earth is only so big 510,065,600 km2 surface area (including the water) So no you can not keep having babies forever. And only so much of it can grow food.
Hunger in industrialized societies occur, however, it is do to parents not feeding their children because they are to lazy to.(The gov. will feed your kids).
Poverty occurs (lets just say it)in advanced societies, why because someone will always be on the bottom, its usually the lazy ones.

Sure, the less people you have to worry about, less worries. But that doesn't necessarily take away poverty, disease or crime. Like you said there's always going to be someone at the bottom who is either lazy or just less fortunate. Having less people here doesn't take away problems. Many solutions create new problems. Oh, and don't worry about "overcrowding" the world. People have been having kids for a long time.

As far back as we have recorded history poverty ALWAYS has a reason. In this case there are two things that need to be fixed;
A; Stop feeding all the food to rats, and
B; Get up off your ass and do some work.
"Make the rich people work twice as hard to feed the people who won't" has never worked. There's an old saying.

Actually you DO have to worry about "overcrowding" in many places. And having less people DOES take away problems. If a women have fewer children (say, 3 instead of 6), then infant mortality goes down, child mortality goes down, maternal mortality goes down -- significantly. The long-term economic impact of having too many kids is very apparent, as well: more mouths to feed means fewer opportunities for getting out of poverty, which means the kids will be starting at the bottom too.
