Blackwater wants to build a mercenary training base in Potrero, CA, a small town just a few miles from the California/Mexico border, on 824 acres of land, consisting of 15 firing ranges, a helipad, and a heavy vehicle operator's course covering the equivalent of 10 football fields.
Local community leaders like Carl Meyer are working hard to keep Blackwater out of their community. On December 11, 2007, Carl and the "Save Potrero" group successfully recalled the entire Potrero Community Planning Group that had approved Blackwater's plans.

Blackwater was in New Orleans because the NOPD ran away and the feds were a now show.
BW was called in by the business owners because the city was being looted all day.

Their "skill trade" is a wide range of skills from protecting government officials that can't trust their own people, protecting and transporting commodities, building fortifications, interrogation and incarceration, and eliminating rivals.
I was exposed to their world years ago, was friends with a merc recruiter. I lived in a part of the world that was infested with merc armies.
If captured, a soldier has a chance due to international standards of treatment of combatants. A soldier understands and respects a soldier, even if he is an enemy.
Mercenaries are the dogs of war. They are nothing more than hit men.
If you want to serve, join the military. They have a code of honor, and the force of law behind them.
