I'm playing this with one of the groups I'm in, RIPYWE (Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble). It is so pretty. Your groups sounds really nice on it--before we started rehearsing it, I made sure I listened to this recording :)

OMG! so how about i love this song, and I was so pyched when i heard we were going to play it for District Honor Band.
Expecially since I play oboe, and there wasn't a soprano sax.
haha, actually just got back from that concert.
but this band did an amazing Job, very touching.

Auburn Honor Band 2008. I LOVE this song. It's so...moving...it makes you be still and listen to all the chords.

I hate it when the Soprano soloist goes fast at the beginning. it is a solo. But other than that, it was nice. By the lmsbandgeek, how about those Spartans?

Yes. I will admit it is slower than most i've heard, but when i listened to a kid play it slower at a musical event locally, it was brilliant. He is arguably god on soprano, but he is in college somewhere now. try playing it slower by yourself and you'll understand.

Hard with a bassoon. Personally, I think it would lose its interesting factor if it was any slower.

My highschool Symphonic Band did this and it was so enchanting. It really is a magnificent and beautiful piece. I love hearing it played live and by a sufficient band. It's beauitful.

I think in regards to the solo it needs to be a little slower at the beginning, it actually attracts more attention because you have time to soak it in rather than whiz through it and then be like wtf just happened. My high school band played this as well a couple years ago. Great song!!

At the end where there are fermatas on the rests, they should have held them out longer. i played this for cu (Colorado university) middle school summer band. i agree they need to go just a little bit slower on it.

The bassoon part is hard in and of itself. I think the solo part might kill a bassoonist.

You guys have very nice tone =D and this is an amazing piece and you played it well.
But i think when the percussion came in (bass drum and snare drum) they could've backed off just a tiny bit. And this piece sounds nice when those rolls are really really smooth :)
But overall this was a really good performance GOOD JOB

Well, her bass actually broke right before the performance (very dramatic rofl, she cried). But Carlene did alright considering

The solo was muy impressive, but what got me was the little picc/flute duet was IN TUNE! We played this in a band camp in Delaware and the flute player was in tune but the piccolo player was way out there.

Well I know there is a bass clarinet solo in the beginning, and then the bassoons come in. And I know the bassoons didn't mess up on this piece because I played the part personally, and would remember if I messed up on it.
