I love Def Leppard and even modern Def Leppard but the old stuff is unbeatable. If they still would of released this stuff their whole career they would get the respect bands like AC/DC or the Crue get. Even though Def Leppard blow both of them out of the water. I do love Hysteria though. But High and Dry was badass. They were unique then, I don't call it metal, just hard rock. It rules.

But the REASON pyro did so much better and then of course Hysteria shot thru the roof IS
because the CLIMATE in rock music as a WHOLE was becoming more pop then and moving away from heavy sounding bands.
The tastes at the time were being influenced by even other genres of music--You saw a lot of new wave and bubble gum maddonna like crap watering down the music scene--so rock had to follow--
even the Stones at one time tried to turn disco in the 70's to fit the mold

I guess it's a matter of individual taste. I really loved the Pyromania and Hysteria albums. However to this date my favorite Def Leppard song is "Bringin' On the Heartbreak"...a High and Dry classic.
