What I love about Sylvie is that she is a person; she is very human when she dances and she makes me forget that she is a ballerina. A very, very fine ballerina at that. Probably the best. She dances the truth and brings such a sublime realness to each role that I very rarely can watch anyone else doing that role after her. In my humble opinion, I think her interpretations are near perfect.

Manon's music is by Jules Massenet orchestrated and arranged by Leighton Lucas. There is a video (a 1982 Royal Ballet production with Anthony Dowell and Jennifer Penney) which you can get from Amazon.
