When Jesus cried out It is finished, he meant It was finished in the past, it is still finished in the present and it will remain finished in the future.
So to conclude this point:
And as Christ summed it up on the cross, "It is finished."
So is is not possible to conclude that what Jesus meant by his words "I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do" does not include the
#1. Jesus makes if plainly clear and provides intimate detail that he would be killed and that this was in fulfillment of the prophets.
#2. Jesus makes clear that his Father's love is based on the fact that he lays down his life for mankind.
and
#3. Jesus makes clear that while the glorification of his Father had been completed, his efforts on the cross were the finality to his Earthly ministry.
And he tells us Specifically WHY this took place:
In Matthew 26 Jesus
Some have stated that because Jesus states, "Blood of the covenant" that this is somehow not literal but figurative. It must be known that "of the covenant" simply means "a solemn contract, oath, or bond."
Jesus' BLOOD is the REQUIREMENT of the NEW CONTRACT. And that is EXACTLY what Jesus states. What is the contract?
This is MY BLOOD of the contract which is... FOR WHAT???
The NEW CONTRACT requires that Jesus' blood be "poured out" and it requires it so that the result can be attain, "the forgiveness of sins for many."
You cannot get more literal than LEGAL contracts.
Without the "poring out" of Jesus' blood, the contract WOULD NOT BE FULFILLED! That would be DISASTROUS because according to Jesus, there would be no forgiveness of sin.
Now, I must address your reference to Matthew 21. I'm uncertain why you would present this to support your argument as it clearly undermines it. You correctly conclude that Jesus is the son whom was sent but then dismiss Jesus' parable where in he clearly states that they killed the Son.
Jesus gives us a parable, a story, to exemplify what would happen to him. It concludes with his death which supports my argument clearly.
Salaam my friend,
Joe.
He is dead and died in his sins
I believe, as well as you, that he died in his sins not knowing Jesus as savior.
The Christian believes in a triune God who is very different from Allah.
'About Jesus of Nazareth, He was a PROPHET, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people-Luke 24:19
'People at the time of Jesus believed that he was a PROPHET'-Matt 21:45
Jesus considered himself a Prophet when he said: "only among his relatives and in his own house is a PROPHET without honour" Mark 6:4
God Alone is the only true God, and Jesus whom you sent".John 17:3
Here is my servent whome I have chosen" Matt 12:18
His disciples clearly understood that his death meant the overcoming of sin.
The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (NASB) John 1:29 (John the Baptist)
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust . . . (NASB) 1 Peter 3:18
And you know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. (NASB) 1 John 3:5
Jeremiah 31:33- But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
I dnt see any other names there. Wheres the house of ELAM, MOAB, ESAU, Cannan, Moab, etc?
Romans 9:13- As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
God LOVED Jacob, Jacob is the forefather of the Israelites. The BIBLE says Christ came to redeem ISRAEL from their sins. He was the supreme sacrifice for ISRAEL.
Now that Christ redeemed ISRAEL, ISRAEL is not bound to sacrifice ANIMALS anymore, because that was the ORIGINAL covenent, follow?
When did every nation sacrifice animals? NEVER. Only Israel did.
James 1:1- James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
12 Tribes scattered abroad. I dont see any1 else in there : ]
Acts 5:31- Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Forgiveness of sins to who? ISRAEL. Not YOU. The BIble says Christ came for ISRAEL, ISRAEL, IsraeL!
He is quoting out of PSALMS, out of King David, cuz when Christ died..he died for ISRAEL as a whole! God punished the Israelites, but Christ redeemed them.
Psalm 22:1- My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
This was a Psalm crying out to the LORD, because the LORD punished Israel for breaking his laws!
Isaiah 11:12- And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
The OUTCASTS of Israel! For more on this read Ezekiel 28:25, Ezekiel 26:19, Psalm 44:11, and Ezekiel 20:41 : ]
And read ROMANS the 9th chapter. And dont pull that scrip "NO DIFF BETWEEN JEW NOR GREEK", because this refers to ISRAELITES in Greece! Read Joel 3:6.
You need to read Isaiah the 11th chapter for more info on this. It's in plain and simple English, Christ was sent for ISRAEL!
Romans 11:26- And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob
Dost thou understand?
Typical Muslim Ad Hominem argumentation.
"an israelite and a gentile are not synonamous (equal) terms the bible says go not to the gentiles but to the lost israel "
And you demonstrate your lack of knowledge of scripture. The Messiah was to go FIRST to the jew in order to be rejected by him so that the gospel message could be opened up to teh gentile. This was foretold CENTURIES in advance and is BASIC Jewish prophecy. Please study up before speaking.
Salaam,
Joe
Jesus' LAST words to his disciples, "19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
What part of ALL NATIONS equates to Jews only to you?
You misunderstand the prophecies because of your
