I'm a Flyers fan. This was definitely an illegal hit and it was certainly suspension worthy. However.. Patrice, coming to a dead stop with his back to his pursuer invites injuries such as this. Yes, it was a bad hit.. but he (Bergeron) could have prevented his own injury by not coming to a stop, and keeping his legs moving.

Look, I don't know if you were paying attention or not but the puck was barely moving straight ahead of him. The only way he could keep his legs moving is if he kept skating into and through the boards... It's not a hard concept to grasp that that was the play Bergeron needed to make.
Regardless, I don't think Jones intentionally tried to hurt him etc., though it was irresponsible.

I'm a Bruins fan and I've believed the whole time that it was just a really bad coincidence...Jones obviously meant to deliver a hit but I don't think he was counting on Patrice stopping a couple feet away from the boards and in the position that he did. I don't think Jones had to hit him but the circumstances just made it that much worse. Shitty as it was without Bergeron last year, he'll be back in 08-09 and Boston should have a bit better shot in the playoffs with him :D
