Drum Lesson: Double Stroke Roll Accents

UPDATE: CHECK OUT MY NEW VIDEO LESSON! I discuss how you can make a funky ride cymbal groove out of a paradiddle.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hhnwxf2o36c
In this lesson:
I go over how you can pull accents out of a double stroke roll. You can use this in fills, or soloing.
This is my first video lesson, so I would love to hear any feedback what so ever regarding teaching method, the material, or anything. Also, feel free to ask questions. I will be happy to answer them. And let me know if I was in any way helpful! I would love to hear some success stories. Thanks for watching!
P.S. I do not suggest imitating the way I hold my sticks in this video. The right hand was situated in such a way that ended up giving me carpel tunnel, and the left hand has many flaws as many people have pointed out. My doubles also had a very choked sound. I no longer play traditional grip, and have been taught much more appropriate ways to handle the sticks with matched grip that are more healthy and efficient.

when i do doubles my left is doin it soft but my right keeps accenting both so its like RRll, any ideas 2 help me get out of this?
Why yes, there is a ... ( 2 weeks ago by geekusadrummer)
Why yes, there is a good exercise for this. When you practice your doubles, don't just practice them |:rrll:| BUT practice them just as much starting on a different note, which gives you these possibilities: |:rllr:|, |:llrr:|, and |:lrrl:|. By not leading with your dominant hand all the time, it will help the lefts to sound stronger. Does that make sense?

Hey, that was a rather informative video - thanks. I followed it right up until the end there where you talked about using the pattern for soloing. You seemed to jump ahead there and I couldn't quite grasp how you were using the patterns - can you perhaps explain or give examples of what you were actually playing there?
Oh sure dude! I ... ( 2 weeks ago by geekusadrummer)
Oh sure dude! I think for the most part I am just taking A and B and throwing them out at random. For example... AAABAABBBAABAABBABABABBAA...completely random! You could play a solo around the kit just doing AAAAAAAAAA and it would sound great. But if you throw a few B's in there, it will give it a little more color. Try something like this: AAAAABAAABAAAAAAAAABAAABBA I would start with the ideas I wrote in this comment. Put a click on and just play the pattern, and see how much u can do.
Hey thanks for that ... ( 2 weeks ago by lloydismyname)
Hey thanks for that. I see where I lost it - I was forgetting about the main pattern (RllrrL) being made up of A and B. Thanks for your reply, I shall have some fun with that! I appreciate you taking time to reply.
